Ashley Ingram to Play at Midwestern

by Carlsbad' Current Argus/Jeff Keller

CARLSBAD — Cavegirl softball player Ashley Ingram will continue her softball career at the collegiate level, and she will still be able to call her coach, 'Coach Tigert.'
Ingram recently signed her letter of intent to play softball at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.
The Mustangs are coached by Brady Tigert, son of Carlsbad High School softball coach John Tigert.
Ingram has played for Tigert since he returned to the Cavegirl program in 2006, Ingram's sophomore year.
She said she is looking forward to playing for Brady Tigert.
"I am relieved," Ingram said of playing for Brady Tigert. "I would rather play for another Tigert than for a totally different coach. I know he (Brady) is a totally different coach, but it is still kind of the same."
Ingram said she is also glad to be playing college softball in the Lone Star State.
"My dream was to play for a Texas team because of the exposure," Ingram said. "I want to go pro."
After batting .486 her junior season with the Cavegirls, Ingram had high hopes coming into her senior season in 2008.
Ingram, a five-year Cavegirl varsity player, was named a senior captain for the Cavegirls but just days before the 2008 season
