Coaches Comings and Goings in New Mexico

There are a few coaching comings and goings across New Mexico this Easter weekend.

Hamilton Doyle announced he will step down as head coach of the West Las Vegas boy's basketball program. Doyle, in an interview with the Albuquerque Journal, stated that disagreements with parents and administration have led to his resignation. At Monte Del Sol, in Santa Fe, boy’s head basketball coach Ralph Casuas has resigned his head coaching position due to conflicts with is current position as a correctional administrator at the Santa Fe state prison. Casaus led the Dragons to their first ever state tournament appearance this past season and were eliminated by eventual state champ Texico 64-61. The Dragons finished 16-12 this season.

The school adds that an immediate search is underway to replace Casuas.

In Farmington, Gary Bradley has been named the Scorps new head football coach, replacing Randy Jackson. Bradley was the offensive coordinator at Mayfield High School for the past fuve season and helped the Trojans to three Class 5A State Titles.

In Las Cruces, Onate head girl’s basketball coach Roger Maya has resigned his position as the Lady Knights head coach, after just two season. Maya said it was not his choice to resign, adding that he felt the program had made great strides in making Onate a quality program. Onate finished 9-17 this past season and advanced to the second round of the district tournament.
