Doyle Returns as Head Coach of West Las Vegas; Players Given Ultimatum

Las Vegas, NM: After an hour long meeting with West Las Vegas Schools Superintendent Doctor Jimmy Abreu and WLV School’s athletic director Jose ‘Majic’ Medina, Hamilton Doyle will return as the head coach of the West Las Vegas Dons.

Doyle resigned Friday evening as a result of what he considered, to be too much parent interference and lack of support from the West Las Vegas administration.

After the meeting, Abreu and Doyle wanted to have a players only meeting, but  several parents showed up and protested Doyle’s reinstatement and did not want their sons playing for Doyle.

Abreu gave the ultimate ultimatum to the players and to the parents, “If they show up tomorrow, they understand they will be playing for Coach Doyle. If not, we will assume they will not play for him.”

One parent who felt the opposite was George Griego, whose son plays on the team, “He is the coach and we as parents need to understand that. What I want to know is why was I not invited to this meeting and I will tell you why. It is because these parents did not want to hear my side."

The Dons are the fourth seed in the upcoming state tournament and will play Tohatchi Saturday in Las Vegas.
