Eastern's Mayo Otis Toughest NCAA Division II Softball Player to Strike Out in 2009

PORTALES, N.M. — Junior right fielder Alex Mayo Otis (Phoenix, Ariz./St. Mary’s HS) from the Eastern New Mexico University softball team finished the 2009 season with a team-high 160 at bats, but struck out just twice over the 47 game season, finishing the campaign tied with Trisha Thurston from West Virginia Wesleyan as the toughest batter in the nation at the NCAA Division II to strike out.
For her efforts in the 2009 season, Mayo Otis garnered Second Team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 6, Academic All-Lone Star Conference and Second Team All-LSC.
