Eastern's Redman-Trotter Scores 22 Points in Loss to Regis

DENVER, COLO.— Senior guard Justin Redman-Trotter (Milwaukee, Wis./Northern Iowa/Marquette HS) hit a pair of free throws 2:16 in Saturday night’s game against Regis to give the Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team (2-3) a 6-4 lead, but the Rangers used back-to-back dunks from Geremy Gibson to take the lead for good about two minutes later and hand the Greyhounds a 96-71 defeat in the Regis University/Colorado School of Mines Thanksgiving Classic at the Regis Field house.
The 96 points by the Rangers were the most against the Greyhounds since Texas A&M-Commerce defeated Eastern by a 97-90 score on January 20, 2005.
After Eastern took the lead, Gibson scored to start a 33-14 run by Regis, giving the Rangers a 37-20 edge with 4:53 left in the first half. Eastern traded baskets with Regis for the remainder of the half, trimming the halftime deficit to 14 points, 45-31.
The Rangers opened the second half with a 23-15 run, pushing their lead to 68-46 with 12:35 left in the game. Eastern responded with an 18-6 run of their own, capped by a Jamaal McCoy (Jr., G, Missouri City, Texas/Navarro JC) lay-up with 7:04 remaining, cutting the deficit to 74-64. Eastern could come no closer as Andy Pokorny’s three-pointer started a 7-0 run as Regis pulled away for the victory.
Regis out shot Eastern by a 61-41.5 percent margin from the floor and connected on 66.7 percent from beyond the three-point arc.
