ENMU Track at Texas Tech Invitational

LUBBOCK, TEXAS— Sophomore Deidra Brown (Bloomfield, N.M./Bloomfield HS) from the Eastern New Mexico University women’s track and field team turned in a strong performance in the javelin toss at the Texas Tech Invitational taking first place with a throw of 123’5”. Derek Henio (Jr., Pine Hill, N.M./Pine Hill HS) notched a second place finish in the men’s 10,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in second place.

Krystal Becenti (Fr., Gallup, N.M./Gallup HS) notched a third place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:27.09, while Hannah Rhoten (So., Albuquerque, N.M./St. Pius HS) cleared a distance of 35’3.25” in the triple jump to finish in fifth place.

Steven Aragon (So., Los Lunas, N.M./Los Lunas HS) took third place in the javelin toss with a distance of 194’7”, while Robert Griego (So., Bloomfield, N.M./Bloomfield HS) placed fifth with a toss of 177’7”. Jonathan Bull (So., Carrollton, Texas/Newman Smith HS) throw of 48’6.25” earned him a fifth place finish in the shot put, with Michael Gerber (Fr., Alamogordo, N.M./Alamogordo HS) coming in 6th with a distance of 47’2.25”.

The Greyhounds and Zias will travel to Almosa, Colo., to compete in the Travis McKinley Open at Adams State on April 19.
