In boy’s basketball action Friday night, Hagerman 6’8 senior post player Bill Squire popped in 27 points and added 12 rebounds as Hagerman improved to 2-0 with a 78-43 win over Loving.

Hagerman races out to a 28-11 first period advantage and never looked back. Hagerman increased their lead to 57-21 at intermission.

Besides Squire’s 27 points and 12 rebounds, Isaac Dejarno scored 19.

Loving was led by Frank Ornales’ 11 points.

In the Alamosa Tournament in Alamosa, Colorado, Mesa Vista advances to Saturday’s championship game with a 73-59 win over Seargant, Colorado.

The Trojans trailed 7-1 early in the opening period, but rallied to out score the Colorado opponent 20-4 by the end of the first quarter.

Mesa Vista led 35-24 at intermission and increased their lead to 14 as the led 51-37 heading into the final eight minutes.

Frankie Jiron scored 24 and added five three-pointers for the Trojans. Geronimo Lopez added 19 and Jaime Cruz scored an even dozen.

In the Kirtland Tournament, West Las Vegas beat Crownpoint 65-24 and will play host Kirtland Saturday at 11:00 for Fifth Place. The Broncos beat Bloomfield 52-49. In other action, it was Shiprock losing to Monument Valley in one semi-final game 64-63. Monument Valley will play white Horse, Utah for the championship.

Pojoaque beat Grants 70-49 as Ryan Gonzales scores 24. The Elks, 2-0, also had Eddie Ortega, Orlando Trujillo and Tom Micotte each with 10.

In girl’s action Friday night, Kirtland defeated Winslow, Arizona inte semi-finals of the Gallup Tourney 57-54.

Dominique Rivera scored 21 points as Las Cruces improves to 2-1 with a 62-37 win over Carlsbad. Andrea Aragon added 16 for the Lady Bulldawgs who next play Eastwood, Texas December 7.

In Goddard, the Lady Rockets trailed 17-18 after the first period and then outscored the Lady colts from Silver 28-16 in the second period as Goddard goes to 1-1 with an 82-59 win.

Tarrah Sweet led the Lady rockets with 20 points and Marissa Matt and Tiffany Green each added 14 to pace Goddard. The Lady Rockets will play Deming Saturday in a matinee affair starting at 1.

NMMI beat Gateway Christian 30-21.

In the Clint Tournament in Clint, Texas, Mayfield got 18 points from Shatwa Morris and Justina Adams added 10 at the Lady Trojans beat Isleta 57-28. Mayfield improves to 2-1 on season.
