Gibson Leads Aggies to 100-64 Victory

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) -Jonathan Gibson scored 20 points to lead New Mexico State to a 100-64 rout over Division II opponent LeMoyne-Owen Sunday night.

Gibson sank four 3-pointers on four shots to help stake the Aggies (2-2) to a 57-32 halftime lead.

New Mexico State shot 57 percent from the floor in the first half compared to 25 percent for LeMoyne-Owen (0-1). The Magicians managed to score only 4 points in the paint.

New Mexico State jumped to a 12-3 lead in the first four minutes as Gibson scored 8 points. LeMoyne-Owen then outscored the Aggies 13-12 to bring the score to 24-16 at the 10-minute mark.

The Magicians were plagued by foul trouble and turnovers as New Mexico State responded with a 32-16 streak. Hatila Passos scored 13 of his 16 points in the first half to pace the Aggies' streak. Wendell McKines added 19 points, 11 of them in the second half.

Rasuu Buluu led the Magicians with 26 points and was 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Jeff Webb had 10 points and Jihad Sharif added 9.
