Lobo Soccer Signs Holden for Upcoming Season

by UNM Athletics

Albuquerque: University of New Mexico men's soccer head coach Jeremy Fishbein announced the addition of Euan Holden to the Lobos for the upcoming season. Holden joins UNM's 11-member recruiting class as a transfer from UCONN. He will be a junior with two years of eligibility at New Mexico.

"Euan is an excellent addition to what we think is one of the strongest recruiting classes in the country," stated Fishbein. "He is a talented player who has competed at the highest level throughout his career and we expect him to be an impact player at New Mexico over the next two years."

Holden played two seasons for the Huskies, seeing action in 36 games. He scored two goals from the midfield. A native of Sugar Land, Texas, Holden led his Clements high school squad to the state semifinals and a 21-3 mark as a senior. He also led his Houston Texans club team to numerous South Texas State Championships while also playing on the Region III ODP squad. Holden's brother, Stuart, is currently a member of the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer.

New Mexico posted a 12-5-2 record in 2007, winning their fourth-straight MPSF title and making their sixth appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the last seven years. New Mexico has won over 80% of its games since the start of the 2004 season with a record of 61-11-11. The Lobos own the highest winning percentage in the NCAA during that period.
