Manny Medina Steps Down at Espanola

by NMOTSC and Richard Tripp

Manny Medina was on the verge of turning the Espanola football program into one of respect and dignity. That will no longer be the case because Medina has resigned as the Sundevils head football coach, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

Medina, who just completed his third season, stated that it was a personal decision and he wants to pursue other options.

The Espanola native added that he has offers available including an assistant college coaching position and also a defensive coordinator position at a high school in Texas.

Medina leaves the Sundevil program with a mark of 9-21 overall, but finished 5-5 this past season.

“His five wins last season set a milestone for Espanola football,” said Dave Fontaine Espanola schools athletic director.
