Monte del Sol Hires Soccer Coach

by Santa Fe New Mexican

Santa Fe: Seven months later, Monte del Sol finally has found a new head boys soccer coach.

His name is Stuart Angel, who was hired on Wednesday. He replaces Seth Bidermen, who stepped down in December after four years at the helm.

Angel hails from Virginia, where he coached club level soccer and was an assistant men's soccer coach at Ferrum College. He also was a youth soccer coordinator in Loudon, Va., before moving to Santa Fe in January.

Angel is well aware of the challenges of coaching at the charter school.

"We don't have same numbers to draw from like other schools," Angel said. "So it cuts our player pool by a half to a third or a even an eighth. We just kind of got to do the best we can."

The Dragons were 4-14 in 2007, but recorded its first win in district play with a win of Santa Fe Preparatory.
