NMSU's Wilson Drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2009 MLB Draft

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Senior reliever Jake Wilson of the New Mexico State baseball team was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the final day of the 2009 Major League Baseball First Year Draft, Thursday, June 11.

Wilson (Corus Christi, Texas), who helped the Aggies to the most wins in program history with a 3.04 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings of play, was pick No. 973 of the draft.  He began his Aggie career in 2008 as a starter before pitching coach Chad Tidwell moved him into the reliever position and changed his delivery to the plate.

Throughout the year, Wilson marked his fastball at 93-94 MPH and picked up four save along the way.  He was the third Aggie to be drafted in the 2009 MLB draft.
