Portales, N.M. Oklahoma Panhandle State (2-2) recorded 17 steals and capitalized on 32 turnovers from the Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team (2-4) to hand the Greyhounds a 79-71 loss Wednesday night at Greyhound Arena. Senior guard Kevin Davis (Larue, Texas/Western Oklahoma State) was the Hounds’ top performer, pouring in a career-high 25 points to go along with nine rebounds and five steals.

Facing an 18-point deficit, 70-52, with 5:55 left in the game, a three-pointer from Justin Redman-Trotter (Sr., G, Milwaukee, Wisc./Northern Iowa JC) sparked a 19-7 run by the Greyhounds capped by Davis’ dunk with seven seconds remaining to pull Eastern to within a 77-71 score. The Greyhounds came no closer as OPSU’s Fred Durr hit a pair of free throws with 5.9 on the clock to seal the Aggie win.

The Greyhounds dominated the boards, holding a 52-31 advantage, including a decisive 17-4 edge on the offensive glass. Eastern struggled at the free throw line, converting on seven of 17 attempts, while the Aggies hit 23 of their 31 shots from the charity stripe.
