Piedra Vists Softball and Farmington Baseball Win

by Farmington Daily Times

Las Cruces, NM: Piedra Vista (7-1) avenged their loss to Artesia last week, crushing the Lady Bulldogs in the championship game of the New Mexico Invitational in Las Cruces. Piedra Vista got a masterful performance from pitcher Jayme Fuller, and Tristin Moone was a force at the plate with two doubles and a three-run home run.

"These girls hate to lose," Panthers coach Kevin Werth said. "They came to practice focused on Tuesday, and they hit the ball the way they should have last weekend." Moone and Fuller were named to the All-Tournament Team along with third baseman Valerie Kloberdanz.

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Scorpions sucked the suspense from the championship game of their own tournament Saturday evening by pounding extra-base hits with relative ease en route to another run-rule win. Farmington produced another spectacular offensive display, and used a seven-run first inning to rout Colorado's defending Class 4A state champs, the Cherokee Trails Cougars, 14-2 in five innings at Ricketts Park to claim top billing at the Farmington Scorpion Invitational.
