Sara Davis Named Colorado Christian Female Athlete of the Year

Raton: Sara Davis, a 2004 graduate of Cimarron High School, was named
Colorado Christian University's Female Athlete of the Year for the
2007-2008 athletic season.
Davis played for four years for the Cougars. As a junior, she set the
school record for most rebounds in a career in women's basketball
with 592. She increased her career total to 802 her senior year.
Davis also finished third in career points scored with 1,429, third
in career field goals made with 532 and fourth in career free throws
made with 260.
During the 2007-2008 season, the Cougars finished with a 15-20
record, the most wins the Cougars have had in a season of women's
basketball. The Cougars also advanced to the Rocky Mountain Athletic
Conference tournament for the first time in seven years.
Davis received RMAC honorable mention as a senior and was named to
the conference's second team as a junior.
In high school, Davis played for three years for the Raton High
School girls basketball team, starting on varsity as an eighth-
grader. She missed her freshman season because of injuries and
returned her sophomore and junior seasons as a varsity starter. Davis
transferred to Cimarron her senior year and was a starter for the Ram
girls basketball squad that won the Class AA girls basketball state
championship.
Davis graduated from CCU in May with a 3.84 grade point average and a
degree in accounting.
