Portales, N.M. Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball coach Shawn Scanlan has announced the signing of Gerald Brown (G, 6-2, 185, Houma, La./Kilgore College) and Brandon Lewis (F, 6-7, 210, Bay Minette, Ala./Faulkner State CC) to National Letters of Intent to join the Greyhounds in the upcoming 2008-09 season.

Lewis was the top shooter for the Sun Chiefs last year, converting on 60.8 percent of his shots from the floor and finishing the season with 78 rebounds with a season-high six boards in a victory over Pensacola Christian. He also was a strong performer on the defensive side of the court, grabbing 35 steals.

“Brandon (Lewis) is a raw, but extremely talented post player,” said Scanlan. “He comes in with a lot of upside.”

Brown led the Runnin’ Rangers to 15 wins last season, including a strong start, which saw KC win nine of their first 10 games.

“Gerald is a high energy player,” said Scanlan. “He is tough, defensive minded, aggressive and always plays hard.”
