Silver City: The WNMU men's tennis dropped their match at Scottsdale Community College, who is the number three junior college in the nation, on Wednesday by a score of 7-2.

Rafael Catay (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Wilton Atkins (Wanganui, New Zealand) came close in doubles but fell to Scottsdale’s Risk and Weiland, 9-8 (10-8).

“If our #1 doubles team could have pulled out the victory, I really feel that we could have changed the momentum of the matches in singles,” says head coach Erik Burton. “Our #1 and #6 singles had battles that could have gone our way, but we came up just short.” (Thomas Risk,SCC over Rafael Catay, WNMU 6-2, 7-6 (7-5); Kevin Crowley, SCC over Billy Wilton, Espanola, NM, WNMU 6-4, 3-6, 6-2)
